| MetaWorks Dictionary Migration Fails Any attempt to migrate from an S-Designor 5.1.x MetaWorks dictionary to PowerDesigner 6.1.0 will fail with a SQL Error. Note: This problem is specific to a 5.x to 6.1.0 migration. It does not occur when migrating from 6.0 to 6.1. The exact error for Sybase SQL Anywhere reads: SQL Error: [Sybase] [ODBC Driver] Integrity violation: column 'LEVL' in table 'AMUS' cannot be NULL. The exact error for Oracle reads: INTERSOLV Error: [INTERSOLV][ODBC Driver] [Oracle] ORA-01400: Cannot insert NULL into ["SDCORP"."AMUS"."LEVL"] For the other databases supported by MetaWorks, you will receive a similar error message. As a result off this error, the MetaWorks dictionary migration fails and you will not be able to connect to this dictionary with any versions of PowerDesigner 6.1.x. You will, however, still be able to connect to the dictionary in S-Designor 5.1.x If you are planning to MIGRATE to PowerDesigner 6.1 and you are using the MetaWorks module, please do the following before attempting to upgrade your 5.1.x dictionary. 1) Download the 6.1.01 patch from http://support.sybase.com/esd/design.html 2) Install PowerDesigner 6.1.0 3) Apply the 6.1.01 patch to your 6.1.0 install of PowerDesigner. NOTE: You must apply the 6.1.01 to each module of PowerDesigner that's installed. 3) Using MetaWorks 6.1.01, connect to your existing dictionary to migrate it to 6.1.01 If you have already tried to migrate from a 5.1.x dictionary to a 6.1.0 dictionary and have experienced the error mentioned above, use the following steps to successfully migrate your dictionary. 1) Download the 6.1.01 patch from http://support.sybase.com/esd/design.html 2) Apply the 6.1.01 patch to your 6.1.0 install of PowerDesigner. NOTE: You must apply the 6.1.01 to each module of PowerDesigner that's installed. 3) Drop and restore from backup the 5.1.x dictionary. 4) Using MetaWorks 6.1.01, connect to your existing dictionary to migrate it to 6.1.01 RECOMENDATION: After your dictionary has been migrated to 6.1.01, please review the permissions/rights assigned to each user. The implementations of users and their specific roles have been changed from the 5.x technology to the 6.x technology. |
